The Hunger Games
by Suzanne Collins
I was not riveted by this book, because I did put it down to take a nap and make some soup. However, I did enjoy reading it and found myself rooting for the characters. I appreciated theme of being true to yourself, that it takes a team to beat the odds, and that true friendships can happen in unexpected ways.
I honestly can't decide if I liked the book or not. I kept thinking the whole time, why don't they just team up and work together, and so I was glad at how that part of the story worked. I think I held back from totally loving the story because of all the hype about it. I'm curious enough that I'll probably read the rest of the books.
